Blog entry Take part in World Change

16 November 2011

On November 22, TakePart will dedicate one of their "30 Ways in 30 Days" calendar days to Freerice and fighting hunger. The campaign encourages us all to take small steps during the month of November to make the world a better place.

Today, November 18, we're just over half way through the challenge with today's action being a pledge to stop puppy mills. It's not too late to join and (of course) make sure to take part on November 22 when we play to end hunger.

You can join the Freerice group we have set up for the campaign here: Freerice.com/content-group/takepart

TakePart's 30-day challenge isn't the only major happening around the world dedicated to fighting hunger - if you're in Canada, you may want to check out the The Canadian Freerice School Challenge.

Along with George Stroumboulopoulos (WFP’s National Ambassador Against Hunger) and the World Food Programme, schools across Canada are invited to “rice up” and learn in the process.

George will donate a specially designed school plaque engraved with the name of the winning school and 10 autographed Freerice T-shirts for those with the top scores within the winning group.

The aim of these events is to make doing good a daily habit.

What other small things do you do, that make a difference (apart from playing Freerice, of course)? Let us know in the comments below.

All the rice raised on Freerice has been going towards Cambodia since June 2011. Find out more about Cambodia here

Freerice is maintained by and supports the United Nations World Food Programme, the world's largest humanitarian organisation fighting hunger worldwide. To find out more go to WFP.org

I know freerice is real cause I know people who deliver the rice...
Freerice doesn't make that kind of rice anymore because it used to donate 20 grains of rice for every click and now only 10.

ive been with freerice since 2007 and as a true freerice member ive taking a real good look at freerice 4 a while and i would have 2 say freerice is in somewhat of a slump i guess u can say.the rice totals have gone way down by like 40million,all of these glitches have been going on we barely getting over 9million in a day i remember the time where freerice would donate over 100million grains in a day and in dat same year freeice donated over 43billion grains of rice that year freerice was really at its prime.i guess all im saying is...... WHAT HAPPENED!!!!!!!!

Okay, this has nothing to do with the topic, but what is going on with the "rice_block" message that I keep getting??? It' starting to become a nuisance.

One good way to end world hunger is to CONSUME LESS ourselves. Americans waste so much, electricity, water, money (that people don't have in the first place), and we are still complaining that we don't have enough. There are hardly initiatives to stop that. I suggest doing small things like vacuuming a little less frequently, don't run the dishwasher for too long, wash clothes in bigger loads, cutting the luxury items that you don't really need, and drive less.
